What is a ferrite core?
2024-11-05
  • What is a ferrite core (a high-frequency magnetic conductive material)? Ferrite core is mainly composed of three metal elements: iron (FE), manganese (MN), and zinc (Zn). It is usually called Mn Zn ferrite. The annular ferrite core has no air gap and the cross-sectional area is the same, so the magnetic effect is very high.
  • Ferrite core is made of dense and homogeneous ceramic structure non-metallic magnetic materials with low coercivity, also known as soft ferrite. It consists of oxides or carbonate compounds of iron oxide (Fe2O3) and one or more other metals (e.g. manganese, zinc, nickel, magnesium). Ferrite raw materials are pressed, sintered at 1300 ℃ and finally machined into finished magnetic cores that meet the application requirements. Compared with other types of magnetic materials, ferrite has the advantages of high permeability, high resistance and low eddy current loss in a wide frequency range. These material characteristics make ferrite an ideal material for manufacturing high-frequency transformers, broadband transformers, adjustable inductors and other high-frequency circuits from 10kHz to 50MHz.

  • Ferrite core , as a high-frequency magnetic material, has a wide range of applications, mainly including the following aspects:

Inductors and transformers: Ferrite cores are the main components of inductors and transformers, used to provide magnetic flux paths, increase inductance, improve circuit performance and stability.
Filters: Ferrite cores can be used to manufacture various filters, such as low-pass, high pass, band-pass filters, etc., to filter out stray signals and noise in circuits.
Sensors and actuators: Ferrite cores can also be used to manufacture magneto electric sensors, magnetostrictive actuators, etc., for detecting and controlling physical quantities.
Communication and electronic devices: Ferrite cores are also widely used in communication and electronic devices, such as antennas, oscillators, etc., to improve device performance and stability.
Anti interference: Ferrite anti-interference cores are equivalent to low-pass filters, effectively solving high-frequency interference problems such as power lines and signal lines, and are widely used in electronic devices such as computers.
