The service life of injection molds has always been an important factor affecting the profitability of injection molding projects. If a reasonable method can be used to make the life of the injection mold more competitive than the design requirements, then the profit of the enterprise will be greatly improved. So what are the ways to provide the service life of the injection mold?
1. Reasonable setting of mold locking force
Correctly setting the locking force of the injection molding machine is of great significance to improve the life of the injection mold. Too high or too low locking force can adversely affect mold life. If the clamping force is set too low, the injection pressure may exceed the clamping force and the mold will be opened or even damaged during the injection process. If the locking force is set too high, the injection molding machine can put too much pressure on the parting line, vent area, and mold parts of the mold, which can damage the mold.
2. Low pressure clamping setting
Set a low pressure shutdown on the injection molding machine to protect the mold. Set the high pressure lock position 0.05 inches above the actual mold contact position. Gradually reduce the low pressure clamping pressure until no clamping is achieved.
3. Reasonable mold opening and closing settings
Clamping speed affects cycle time, but the faster the clamping speed, the better. Because closing too fast can cause excessive wear or damage to mold parts.
It should be ensured that the transition from quick closure to slow closure is smooth, and that the slow closure occurs before the pin and component are assembled together. Make sure the transition between fast and slow openings is smooth, and that fast openings are not performed until all product and components have left the mold.
4. Reasonable ejection settings
Improperly set ejector mechanisms can jeopardize mold life due to excessive ejection or improper product ejection, resulting in die problems and damage.
The part must be properly ejected from the mold based on the amount of separation required for the actual product. Ejecting too much will put too much pressure on the ejector pins. In addition to the injection volume, the injection pressure should not be set too large, which should be determined according to the actual product demand.
5. Reasonable hot runner setting
Hot runner startup and shutdown methods can affect mold life. Improper start-up will cause the mold to expand, resulting in the need for disassembly and maintenance of the formwork. Before production, manually operate the valve gate to verify proper setup and good working condition.
6. Reasonable mold cooling setting
Excessive mold temperature can negatively impact mold life, so limiting mold temperature to the minimum required for acceptable part appearance is an effective way to improve mold life.
