What is the sensitivity of speaker?

  • Sensitivity refers to the sound pressure level generated by a speaker at a given power. Simply put, it is the efficiency of a speaker in converting electrical power into sound power.

  • The higher the sensitivity, the louder the sound produced by the speaker at the same power. Usually expressed in decibels per watt per meter (dB/W/m).

In fact, the sensitivity of a speaker is its inherent property and cannot be changed through simple adjustments. However, we can optimize the sound quality by adjusting the input power of the audio signal or selecting a suitable amplifier to match the sensitivity of the speaker.

  • Adjust input power: For speakers with low sensitivity, the input power of the audio signal can be appropriately increased to improve volume and detail performance. But be careful not to use too much power to avoid damaging the speaker or causing distortion.

Choosing the right amplifier: The matching between the amplifier and the speaker is very important. Choosing an amplifier that matches the sensitivity of the speaker can ensure optimal amplification of the audio signal, thereby improving sound quality performance.
