What are LED lamps?

LED strips refer to the assembly of LEDs on strip FPCs (flexible circuit boards) or rigid PCBs, named after the shape of their product, like a strip. Due to its long service life (typical service life is 80,000 to 100,000 hours), as well as being very energy-saving and green, it has gradually appeared in various decorative industries.

How to classify LED strips

LED strips are usually divided into flexible LED strips and rigid LED strips, but usually include the old LED strips connected to a circuit board with wires. For example, flat three lines 4.3w/m, flat four lines 6.48w/m, flat five lines 8.64w/m and so on.

1. Flexible LED strips are assembled using FPC as assembly boards and LED chips, so that the product thickness is only 0.1cm, not occupying space; Common specifications include 18 LEDs, 24 LEDs, 15 LEDs, 24 LEDs, 30 LEDs and so on. There are also 60cm, 80cm and so on. Different users have different specifications. It can be arbitrarily cut or stretched at will without affecting the glow. The FPC material is soft and can be bent, folded and wrapped at will. It can move and expand freely in three-dimensional space without breaking. Applicable in irregular places and places with limited space. Because it can be curved and entangled at random, it is suitable for any combination of different patterns in advertising decoration.

1. Interior installation: When the LED strip light is used for interior decoration, the installation is very easy because it does not need to withstand storm and rain. Take for example the LED strip lights made by Kuanghong Electronics. There is self-adhesive 3M double-sided tape attached to the back of each LED strip. During installation, the sticker on the surface of the 3M double-sided tape can be torn straight off, and then the tape can be affixed to the location where it is to be installed and smoothed by hand. As for some places where you need to turn or grow, it's simple. LED strip is a circuit structure consisting of three series and parallel LEDs. Every third LED can be cut and used separately.

2. Outdoor installation: Outdoor installation is exposed to wind and rain. When fixed with 3M glue, the adhesion of the 3M glue decreases over time, which leads to the LED strip falling out. Therefore, the groove fixing method is often used for outdoor installation. If cutting and joining is required, the method is the same as indoors, but the additional equipment of waterproof adhesive is required to secure the waterproof effect at the joining point.

3.Connecting to power supply: The total voltage of the LED strip is DC12V, so a power switch is required. The size of the power supply is determined depending on the power of the LED strip and the length of the connection. If you don't want each LED strip to be driven by one power supply, you can buy a high-power switch power supply as the main power supply, and then enter all the LED strips into the power supply in parallel (if the wire size is insufficient, it can be extended), combined by the main power switch. The advantage is that this allows for centralized control. An unpleasant place is the inability to achieve the lighting effect and control the switch of one LED strip. Specific methods can be measured independently.

4.Controller connection: LED running strip and RGB full color strip require the use of a controller to achieve the changing effect, and the control distance of each controller is different. Generally, the control distance of a simple controller is 10 to 15 meters, the remote control distance is 15 to 20 meters, and the maximum distance is up to 30 meters. If the LED strip has a long connection distance and the controller cannot control such a long strip, it is necessary to use a power amplifier for separation.

5. Please pay attention to the connection distance of LED strip: Generally, the maximum connection distance of 3528 series LED strip is 20m, and the maximum connection distance of 5050 series LED strip is 15m. If the connection distance is exceeded, the LED strip is easy to heat up, which will affect the service life LED strip while in use. Therefore, installation must be carried out in accordance with the manufacturer's requirements; LED lamps must not be overloaded.
